Adventures | Canola Yellow

Photos by Alex May

I LOVE weekends, as it means we get to explore the country we are living in a little bit more. To be fair we didn't venture to far last weekend as the husband was not feeling so well. However I have been a bit obsessed with these Canola fields that have blossomed the past few weeks here in Victoria. I am obsessed with the colour yellow so this is like a dream for me to see. I could not help but get some photos of these fields. They just go on and on forever!

I also loved it as it pretty much matched my Seasalt jacket! (which is perfect for these Spring Victorian days) It is the small things that please me :)

Outfit | You Yangs

Photos: Alex May

Its been quiet around here as I was not feeling the most inspired. However last weekend we decided to go for a drive to the 'You Yangs' which are a group of granite peaks which have the most amazing views. It was a pretty cold day as winter has well and truly set in, in Victoria. Its amazing how flat it is where we are. You can see for many miles, or kilometres as the Aussies say! I will never get over how long & straight the roads are in the country here.

This casual outfit is the style you will usually find me in. I live in my van's at weekends hence all the holes in them! I can't bring myself to throw them away though as they have been all over with me. Trust me to be sentimental about shoes!

Outfit | Blue Days

Photos: Alex May

I remember when we were coming to live in Victoria, Australia. We were told and read everywhere that you could experience 4 seasons in a day. I didn't believe this as I couldnt understand how it could happen, until we got here. Last winter I carried a wooly hat, sunglasses and an umbrella to cover all bases.

We were blessed with an amazing summer where it was pretty much over 30 degrees every day pretty much reaching 40 (gross!). Now it is officially Autumn and we are back to the inconsistent days. As I am typing this, it is a chilly grey 20 degree day. However yesterday (as you can tell from the photos) it was a gorgeous sunny (& windy) 27 degree day! This weather plays with your head, and I know its only going to get worse. It makes getting dressed in the morning pretty confusing. Hence why I had a cardigan with me when I left the house which quickly came off.

I am in love with chambray denim dresses at the moment. This one is from Glassons, and was an absolute bargain of $20 in the sale! I love a bargain. My boots are from Topshop. I am not sure if I like them... I am hoping by wearing them I will bond with them.

Friday nights are my favourite! It means the start of the weekend. Woo hoo.

Last night, we went to go visit a work colleagues exhibition, and then went along to the Geelong Night Market. I love how the Aussie's really take advantage of the sunny evenings. There always seems to be something going on.

I love being in Australia, but the things I really miss at home (minus friends and family) has to be certain types of food. When I go home I am planning on having a carpet picnic, where I am surrounded by all the food that I have missed.

One of things that I love, is sweet popcorn, especially when you go to the cinema. The Australians have not cottoned on to Sweet popcorn, only salt (yuk!). If you ask for sweet popcorn, you will get looked at like you have two heads, as I found out. Alex spotted a popcorn stall at the Geelong Night Market, and they sold the most amazing popcorn. Slightly Salted & Slightly Sweet! Who knew this could taste SO amazing. We should of brought two bags... if only I knew! It is the little things!

Sunny Days Outfit

IMG_4307 IMG_4293 IMG_4309 IMG_4273 IMG_4304 IMG_4278 IMG_4289

I am seriously loving the summer months in Australia. It is so nice to see the sun after a year long winter. It is amazing how the sunshine changes your mood so easily. Today was pretty hot at 36 degrees, and it is meant to be 40+ tomorrow! Phew! You can guess what I am doing this weekend!! I am also starting to get a bit of a tan, which is always nice for an english rose like me.

I am normally a t-shirt and jeans girl, but since the summer started I have started to wear a lot more shorts & skirts. This skirt being one of my favourites! It is SO easy to wear, and is perfect for those warmer days. I am not normally a pink girl, but I am loving this colour, and its so flattering. I am also in love with rose gold at the moment. It seems less harsh on my skin compared to gold...

Outfit: Fresh Mint

I decided to treat myself yesterday, and brought my first Peplum top. It is such a flattering fit. I have been thinking of ways of how to wear it, and I thought it would look really nice with some coloured jeans with a statement necklace. I am a bit of a bargain hunter, and the fact that this is all from the high street and would probably fit in the $100 dollar budget makes it even better.

What a lovely weekend I have had:) My parents arrived in Australia on Wednesday and this weekend was spent showing them around the area. It is so nice to have them here and show them around our new 'home'.

Saturday was a HOT day. The hottest that we have had so far, so we spent it outside in the shade mostly. These photos were taken in the Botanical Gardens in Geelong. The colours were so bright and vivid thanks it being Spring. I love these gardens, they are so well kept and have the most amazing Rose garden. We have already ear marked it for a picnic diner one night after work this week.

We are looking forward to showing my parents the Great Ocean Road next weekend! Fingers crossed for sunshine.

Surfdome £250 Wishlist

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

When Surf Dome contacted me to see if I wanted to take part in their £250 wish list. I was more than keen. I have been a customer of Surf Dome for around 5 years now. Although I must admit, I have not been on their website for a while. I was amazed at the large variety of brands there were compared to when I was last on their website.

I was also happy to see that they ship internationally for £10! Bonus!! I might be the only entrant that is on the Southern hemisphere, so I of course had to do a summer-y outfit. I wanted to create an outfit, that could take me from the beach to city easily, just by swapping the footwear choice.

I found it so difficult to pinpoint what I wanted as there was so much choice. As soon as I saw the 'Free People' & 'Quiksilver Women' section. I knew I was onto a winner. I wanted to build a whole outfit, and I was so happy with what I could get for £250. In fact everything above came to a total of £246.03!  I also fell in love with the boots, and you can never go wrong with a pair of black flip flops that would go with everything! I am seriously in love with the cardigan, the fact it is on sale makes it that much more amazing! I am crossing fingers that I do win, as I would love this outfit in my life.

Thank you to Surf Dome for getting in contact with me :)

Sun Spots

Day out in the Sun Day out in the Sun Day out in the Sun Day out in the Sun Day out in the Sun Day out in the Sun Day out in the Sun Day out in the Sun
Photos by Alex May

Today was one of those days where the sun was warm and we just had a relaxing day going for lunch at Barwon Heads. Alex stopped off at an old wool storage warehouse to practice taking some shots of me. I absolutely love this dress by Quiksilver Women. I have been waiting for the sun to make an appearance so I can wear it out. I love the spotty pattern on it. It makes me so happy just looking at it!

Its so strange to think in 5 weeks time it will be Christmas? I actually can't even get into the frame of starting to buy presents, as its so warm?! Its such a surreal feeling. Especially as I am seeing lots of friends back in the UK all wrapped up warm in their jumpers and coats. They all look so cosy. Although I am not complaining about the warmth. It is nice to feel the warmth for once.

On Wednesday, we are off to Melbourne airport to pick my parents up! I am beyond excited and I am counting down the days. I can't wait to show them around the area, and to do the Great Ocean Road with them

Tomorrow is mine and my husbands 6 month wedding anniversary. Its so surreal to think we got married 6 months ago? It has flown by, but I have loved every second of it. I am so lucky to have this amazing man in my life.

I was wearing:
Shoes - River Island
Bracelet - Oxford Trunk
Sunglasses - Rayban Wayfarers
Watch - Nixon

I am EXTREMELY lucky to have a talented husband that has such a good eye. He always seems to capture my better side. We had a chilled out day today, where we went along to a farmers market to pick up some veggies for the week. The choice was amazing and the prices were so good?!

We then went into town, where we took a little walk and found some really cool side alleys. I love this outfit, its a typical weekend outfit for me. My favourite topshop jeans worn with my fail safe leather jacket. Nice and easy for a Saturday.

Although I am fashion designer, I am a high street girl. I do splash out on my handbags but that is about it. I love what the high street has to offer. I really miss the UK shops, however I am getting to know the Australian 'high street' and finding myself some gems! However, I still buy a lot online from the UK to get my fashion fix.

I was wearing:
Jeans: Topshop 'Leigh'
Boots: Topshop
Cardigan: Sports Girl
Jacket: Topshop
Bag: Mulberry
T-Shirt: Glassons
Hat: Miss Shop

Where has this weekend gone? It really does fly by when you have a good one. We went into Melbourne this weekend, to go on a helicopter ride of the city. My husband was given a ticket by his old work colleagues as a leaving present (awesome present huh?!?).We had never been in a helicopter so this was a new experience for the husband and I. I can now see why the rich and famous travel via helicopter! Its SO fun. We had such an amazing view of Melbourne's skyline and I am so happy we did it. I have always wanted to learn to fly, however this has really set the seed and I am determined that I want to have a lesson or two.

My husband is currently doing a photography course, which means I am being a 'model' for him. Which is good as I am getting some great photos like the ones above. However it does mean we can not go for a walk without him shoving a camera in my face. However when I see the outcomes, I should not complain.
