Illustration | Frida Kahlo

For some reason, I find some illustrations tricky! I have so many illustrations that are not 'finished' and no matter how many times I sit down with them I cant get them to work. I try not to force my  illustrations as I prefer more of a natural flow to them.

This is one of them. I've been playing with this illustration for a few days now and for some reason I am not in 'love' with it. It might be because Frida is such an icon, that adding any sort of colour took away from the pencil illustration itself... I am not sure. However I settled on a bit of geometric watercolour. I have a feeling I might be coming back to this illustration with fresh eyes in a few weeks.

Im a bit late in posting this, but I was SO excited to see some of my work published in the oh so beautiful Australian wedding 'White Magazine'! If you are planning on getting married in the next few months in Australia, this magazine is seriously worth a look! Actually, no matter where in the world you are, please have a look at this magazine. It is full of beautiful inspiration for a personal wedding day.

One thing I love about the Australian wedding industry is how personal their big days our. I am not sure whether its because they can get married in a location which is personal to the couple, compared to the UK. They just ooze personality!  

I created 6 illustrations in total for White Magazine. Five for a wedding bouquet feature which I loved working on. I also illustrated some bedside tables for a 'By Your Side' feature next to 3 other Australian illustrators that I admire, which I was honoured to sit next to!

I know, I know! Its been a while since I created these invitations... (the date on them gives that away). I did not want this to stop me from sharing these for you. The beautiful bride gave me quite an open brief other than Blue/Yellow & that she was wearing a lace dress... so I knew instantly what to do! As you can see they complimented Mr & Mrs Wareham's beautiful day perfectly! 

You know I am a huge fan of yellow at weddings...  but I love how it works with the blue!
