London Town

Hi all, hope you all had a lovely weekend! Me and my fiance ventured up to London to see Ben Howard play at Shephard's Bush. We spent the afternoon before and the morning after, doing our favourite thing, and that is walking the streets of London and coming across random sights. We headed towards the South Bank, which is our favourite part of London, to walk along the Thames and just chill out and drink coffee (hot chocolate for me!) and just spend some time together away from everyday life. (excuse the weird face that I am pulling in the above photo! ha) Which is something we have not done so often recently due to my work.

Dare I say it (and I am touching wood as I do!) my freelance business is doing better than I ever expected. I am not saying it is easy, as it is anything but! However I feel very proud to be able to say my business is doing well at the moment, and that is all down to little old me! Whoever goes in to freelancing with a fantasy of working at home, and being creative all day, is in it for the wrong reasons! As I can vouch, that it is nothing like that at all. You only have yourself to rely on, and when you feel like giving up, you can't pass it on to anyone else or ask for advice. As at the end of the day, there is only you in the room. All those early starts and late nights that I have worked, (and the many more to come!) learning how to make my books balance (which I have learnt to love), and the not very interesting but the most important side of running a business, the admin/invoicing side of things. I have learnt so much in the past 4 months, and that I am so happy that I took the jump.

Luckily I am a very positive person, as I have gone through weeks of not getting work (with my amazing fiance supporting the both of us), then I have gone through weeks where I have had to turn down work as I have had to much to do. However, that is all in the name of freelancing. I am hoping my good streak lasts for a bit longer, as I continue to build up my client base as I am really enjoying the ride. I truly feel it takes a certain person to work for themselves and start a business. I am not saying I 100% fit that mould, as I know there are certain bits of me that needs to adapt to running a successful business. However I think I am on my way, and I am so happy that I took this step.
